15-Minute Workouts While Traveling

If you travel a lot for business then you may be wondering how to make up for the workouts you missed while you were on the road. Similarly, if you are about to go away on vacation may be worried that the break from your 15-minute workout routine will set your fitness back.

But even if you are away from home and still stick with your 15-Minute workouts. The key is to be a little bit flexible and creative, and adapt your workout routines accordingly.

Stick With What Works. Depending on what you’re now doing for your 15-minute workouts, you may not have to change much of anything at all.

  • All of the body weight exercises you do at home can be done in your hotel room.
  • Instead of walking in your neighborhood, simply walk in a suitable area near your hotel. (Just ask the hotel staff of the best and safest routes.)
  • If you normally use dumbbells or other weights and are looking to duplicate some of the exercises you do at home, consider packing and inexpensive “travel gym” in your suitcase. These normally consist of rubber tubing or bands that can provide a surprising amount of resistance and can be used for a wide variety of exercises.
  • If you like working in a gym setting, check out the facilities in your hotel. Many hotels that don’t have their own workout room will offer discounted access to a local health club, so be sure to ask at the hotel front desk when you make your reservation.

Again, however, the most important thing is simply to do something. You may not be able to do exactly what you are used to doing, but that shouldn’t serve as an excuse to forgo your exercising altogether. If you can’t get in a complete 15-minute workout all at once, look for a few five or 10-minute blocks throughout the day that you can use.
